Many people have asked us about motivation and what motivates us. This is interesting because we research what motivates Rapists and other sexual perpetrators.
What motivates individuals however is difficult to answer. What motivates each of us is different to each other and what motivates our founder JANE or any group such as Team JANE so let's study what motivates everyone and why group motivation is different. For Team JANE it is simple. The way the world deals with sexual violence is not getting results and sexual criminals are mostly able to escape prosecution. What drives us is that we believe we can find the answer. We know there is a better way and we have found some already and are looking for more everyday.
For example we found that most people do not come to help. Case histories shows how people walk past someone in trouble, they see the victim. may hesitate, but decide to keep walking.The more people there are the chance of anyone stopping to help is reduced. They will ignore screams for help. Why? But if only one person walks past it is more likely they will help. Why? Team JANE then discovered that if one person in a crowd stops to help then everyone is motivated by this action and many begin to help. This psychological discovery encouraged us to keep looking for answers and to build our 21st Century Family Survival Guide. To give answers is more useful than listing failures

Motivation is the reason for people's actions, desires, and needs. It is also one's direction to behavior, or what causes a person to want to repeat a behavior.[ A motive is what prompts the person to act in a certain way, or at least develop an inclination for specific behavior. It covers everything including, but not limited to:
- Getting up early
- Winning a sports event
- Losing weight
- Looking for someone to marry
- Obtain an education
- Riding a bike

Another basic drive is the sexual drive which like food motivates us because it is essential to our survival. The motivation of this basic sexual drive is of interest to all humans. This is how we are born and live as a family and have children. This is normal human relationship cemented together by love and care for each other. As a group we are successful and we have failures that are usually resolved. As time went by humans learned that it was better to put some rules in place to regulate ownership so that whilst a Nation consisted of many families each family was able to remain independent owing their own home and property. We also had to engage people to protect us from people who didn't stick to the rules. All nations developed their rules as laws but only a few are the same. Some have none and other have too many and some are so complicated we have to train lawyers to understand them.
Let's simplify more. Once Humans built their own dwellings using the materials freely available to them (Clay, stones, limestone, trees, grasses, etc). Later we built machines to turn the clay into bricks and trained people to install them and others to make sure they did it correctly. Now we have great difficulty to be allowed to build our own house.
We have tried to put in simple terms describe briefly how humans evolve and how things change. We all have expectations and most enjoy normal lives. Unfortunately there are many people who just do not fit the desired model of life, or its rules/laws deciding to do what they want, or just take what they want, without compensation or negotiation. If caught, they lie and use old fashioned views believed by so many, even today, to be true. Perpetrators of sexual violence have developed reason over hundreds of years. Here is a long list that unbelievably are still used now because so many people believe them to be true. We list these because by exposing their lies we can defend ourselves. We motivate people to learn the tactics used by the specialists in sex crimes and expose them.
